Research Aims: Operating room management is extremely difficult due to contradictory priorities and the priority of shareholders, and because of the lack of resources, it is very costly. In addition, hospital managers are forced to predict an increase in demand for surgical services from the aging population. These factors are sufficient to emphasize the need for productivity and the need for development of planning and scheduling.

Research method: In this research, the goal is to develop a model for optimizing allocation and scheduling of human resources in the operating room of the hospital. The most important innovation in this regard is the uncertainty of the duration of surgery, which has been used by the Bertsimas and Sim approach.

Findings: Since the exact solution is not capable of solving the problem in high dimensions, a genetic algorithm for problem solving is used. For this purpose, the model has been implemented for 30 small and large dimensional problems. The results of the numerical solution of 30 problems are presented by the exact solution and genetic algorithm and are validated and compared.

Conclusion:  According to the output data, the meta-innovative algorithm used in this study has a 5.87% error rate compared to the exact method, which is an acceptable error rate.
